German International Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly very close to signing for Manchester City.
City will have to pay a fee in the region of £20 million to land the midfield maestro.
Gundogan signed a contract extension with Dortmund last year but the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola is luring him away from the club.
Gundogan will be missing out on EURO’s due to a knee injury, but according to reports City have been very supportive of the Borussia Dortmund star.
Pep Guardiola is set to revamp City and bring in player’s who he thinks will suit his style of football.
Gundogan made 33 appearances in all competitions this season and will potentially be replacing Yaya Toure at the Etihad Stadium who is lining up a move to Inter Milan to reunite with former manager Roberto Mancini.
Yaya Toure was unable to impress Pep Guardiola during his time at Barcelona and his future at Manchester City has been doubtful ever since Pep was announced as the successor to Manuel Pellegrini.
But even if Gundogan was to sign for the Blue Manchester club, he will not be fit before September.
If he manages to rediscover his best form after recovering from injury, it will be bargain signing for the Oil Rich club.
Guardiola is set to be handed over a budget of £150 million, and Gundogan will be followed by a number of high profile signing.
Gundogan will in all likeliness sign a four-year deal and will be the heart of Guardiola’s midfield at City.
