Liverpool And Inter Milan’s €40m Bid For Joao Mario Rejected By Sporting CP

Liverpool have had a €40 million bid rejected for Joao Mario by Sporting CP according to latest reports.

The 23-year old Portuguese international has made headlines after a stellar Euro 2016 campaign in France earlier this summer.

According to the player’s father, Sporting CP have rejected multiple offers for the midfielder from Europe’s biggies including the likes of Inter Milan and Liverpool.

The 23-year old’s father has claimed that Sporting rejected a €35 million bid with another €10 million in add-ons from Inter, before rejecting a €40 million from the Anfield based club.

“Proposals for the boy don’t come directly to me,” he told Diario de Noticias. “They go to his agent, Kia Joorabchian, and the Sporting president.

“I was informed, however, that the club said no to €35m plus €10m in bonuses from Inter and to €40m from Liverpool.

“Nothing specific has happened, my son is a professional and knows he has a contract with Sporting.

“At the same time, we’re talking about a very valuable player for the club, who aspires to bigger projects during his career.

“I never said Sporting was not a project he liked. On the contrary, he’s always shown an interest in their project.”

Mario had a good season for the Portuguese giants as he scored 6 goals while also notching up 11 assists.
