Manchester United vs Fulham Preview

With two games to go, Manchester United find themselves on the cusp of Champions League qualification. Erik Ten Hag’s men just need to take one point to confirm their return to the biggest tournament in Europe. It has been an impressive recovery by the time within a season where they have massively struggled in the attack. Their final game this season comes against Fulham at home, with United going in as heavy favourites according to Betway.

United are currently on a two-match winning streak that helped them massively get away from Liverpool on the points table. However, before Fulham United will welcome Chelsea and the club may likely have confirmed their Champions League qualification by the time the match comes.

However, nothing is guaranteed in the Premier League, so the game against Fulham will take utmost importance if Chelsea manage to script a surprise win. Even if they win the game against Chelsea, Ten Hag would want his team to finish on a high and pip Newcastle United to third place in the Premier League table.

Fulham have also performed admirably, ending the cycle of promotion followed by immediate relegation, followed by immediate promotion and so on. The Cottagers come into the match on a three-game unbeaten streak and would want to end the season on a high by disappointing one of the top teams in the league.

Manchester United vs Fulham lineups

Manchester United predicted lineup

United’s lineup could alter massively depending on the result against Chelsea, as Ten Hag could opt to rest several of his stars. So to predict a lineup is tricking, but considering they lost to Chelsea, United will field their strongest starting lineup. This means David De Gea will start in goal behind a defence of Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Casemiro will be the number six alongside Christian Eriksen, with Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Antony playing in an attacking three behind the lone striker Anthony Martial.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup: De Gea; Shaw, Lindelof, Varane, Wan Bissaka; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Martial

Fulham Predicted lineup

Meanwhile, Fulham have nothing to play for as any result will not affect their league’s positioning, and the team will look to play the role of spoilsport. Bernd Leno will start in goal behind a back four of Kenny Tete, Tosin Adarabioyo, Issa Diop and Antonee Robinson.

Ahead of them will be Harrison Reed and Joao Palhinha. The attacking trio will comprise Wilson, Tom Cairney and Willian, with Aleksandar Mitrovic acting as the number nine.

Predicted Fulham Lineup: Leno; Tete, Adarabioyo, Diop, Robinson; Reed, Palhinha; Wilson, Cairney, Willian; Mitrovic

Manchester United vs Fulham prediction

When Erik Ten Hag took charge of the club, he promised to restore the glorious days of the club. And this debut season has been a positive step in that direction. However, the job is far from done. Despite finishing third, United are only the ninth-top-scoring side in the league. In fact, they have only scored three more than Leicester City, who are in the relegation zone.

What Ten Hag need now is Champions League qualification which will not only bring in extra revenue but will also make it easier for the club to attract top talents to Old Trafford. And it will be this motivation that will help them get over Fulham.

FootTheBall predicts a 3-1 win for Manchester United who will overtake Newcastle United to finish third on the table.
