Manchester News: Mourinho Ready To Sell De Gea To Real Madrid, But Wants Varane In Return

Published on:

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to sell goalkeeper David De Gea to La Liga giants Real Madrid next summer, but wants defender Rafael Varane in return.

De Gea has been a long-term transfer target for Real and remains top of president Florentino Perez’s wish-list should the European champions decide to replace Keylor Navas.

The Spanish goalkeeper almost completed his move to the Galacticos back in 2015 but the deal couldn’t materialize on deadline day because of a faulty fax machine.

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is finally considering letting go of De Gea but only if he is able to sign Raphael Varane in return, besides a hefty financial package for the deal.

Mourinho signed Varane from Lens while he was manager of Real Madrid in 2011 and has ever since been fond of the defender. The 24-year-old France star has since established himself as one of the top centre backs in world football.

David De Gea has been in excellent form this season, earning eight Premier League clean sheets after the first 11 rounds of fixtures.

Meanwhile, Varane’s campaign has been interrupted by minor injury issues which have restricted him to just six appearances in La Liga so far.
