Newcastle United is holding talks over a move for Gimnastic de Tarragona striker Jose Naranjo with manager Rafael Benitez eyeing for a complete overhaul as the club prepares life in the Championship.

The 21-year-old Spanish striker scored 15 times for Gimnastic to help the club finish third last season in the Segunda Division.

Naranjo also has £2.38 million release clause.

With the club relegated from the Premier League, Benitez knows there will be a mass exodus and needs to bring in new faces to try and build a promotion bid.

Dutch international goalkeeper Tim Krul, England international Jonjo Shelvey and Georginio Wijnaldum have all been linked with moves away from Newcastle for the right price.

Moussa Sissoko is another name set to attract interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.
