In an interview with Chinese television, Arsene Wenger revealed that England forward Jamie Vardy will snub a move to Arsenal and will stay with the Premier League champions Leicester City.

“Jamie Vardy is, at the moment, at Leicester and from what I know, he will stay at Leicester,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Earlier this month, Arsenal had triggered Leicester star Jamie Vardy’s buy-out clause with a £20m offer to bring the England striker to Emirates this summer.

FootTheBall sources believe that Jamie Vardy has held talks with the North London club after Arsenal approached his representatives with a £120,000-a-week offer, which is the exact double of what he earns at Leicester.

The Gunners were desperate to strike a deal before England’s Euro 2016 campaign in France but the 29-year-old striker refused to comment on his future before leaving on international duty as he chose to focus entirely on his commitments with England.

In an interview at England’s 2016 training base at Chantilly, Vardy asserted that he is not thinking about the rumoured summer switch as he is totally focussed on England’s Euro 2016 campaign.

“I’m just here completely focusing on England and that’s all I want to do at the moment,” said the 29-year-old.

“We’re here to represent England and that’s all I want to think about,” he concluded.
