According to recent media reports, Barcelona star Neymar have agreed to join Ligue 1 champions PSG in 2017.
The Brazil forward is keen on making a summer switch to PSG next year and the French giants have assured him an amount of €50m ((€40m plus €10m in add-ons), reported the Brazilian newspaper UOL.
Neymar’s existing contract with Barcelona expires in 2018 and PSG are all set to pay the buy-out clause of £155m to rope in the services of the Brazilian maestro.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving PSG as a free agent this June, the club has been busy in search of a world-class player to bolster their attack. However according to recent media reports, the deal can only be possible in 2017, which means the club has to wait for an entire season before roping in his services.
Critics believed that Barcelona would offer Neymar a new contract this summer and rumours were high even before the Copa del Rey final that Neymar has bagged a new contract with the Catalans. However no official announcements have been made from FC Barcelona which suggests that a move to PSG is very much in the cards for Neymar.
PSG as a team has massive potential in European competitions and is suitable for Neymar as the squad has a strong Brazilian base with the likes of David Luiz, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura and Maxwell.
The Brazilian newspaper UOL reports that both Neymar and his father believe that at Barcelona there are certain factors to restrict his growth but PSG can offer him the perfect substratum to become the best in the world. With the likes of Suarez and Messi in the squad, Neymar’s achievements are overlooked but at PSG he will get the freedom to stretch his wings.
Critics believe that more lenient tax laws in France can also be a reason behind Neymar’s anticipated move to PSG.
