Arsenal Want £30M For Mesut Ozil And Alexis Sanchez In January
Premier League giants Arsenal are holding out £30million to allow Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez leave during the January transfer window, according to reports.
Mesut Ozil has entered the final ten month in his current contract with the Gunners and is yet to agree on a new deal.
The former Real Madrid player has stalled negotiations over a new contract and it is now believed that he will part ways with the Gunners in January.
The German playmaker could leave the North London club at the end of the season as a free agent, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had admitted last month that the club might sell him during the January transfer window in order to recover a portion of the money that had spent to rope him in from Real Madrid.
“Once you are in our situation, you envisage every solution. It is possible,” Wenger had said.
Recent reports have heavily linked Ozil with a move to league rivals Manchester United.
Ozil played under Mourinho during their time together at Real Madrid and the German revealed in his autobiography how his former manager had a played a huge role in boosting his confidence when he had started doubting his own abilities in Spain.
Ozil wrote in his autobiography that he thought himself to be a “a nobody” but laid bare in detail how Mourinho helped him to become one of the top players in Europe.
Sources close to the player have revealed that Ozil’s representatives are confident that Man Utd will try to rope in the 29-year-old in January.
Some reports have also stated that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil wants the club to guarantee him Jack Wilshere’s No10 shirt before signing any new deal with the club.
And now the Daily Star claim that the North London club want £30m for Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, with the Chilean heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
The Chilean has entered the final ten months of his contract with the Gunners and it is understood that the former Barcelona player will not put pen to paper on a new deal at Arsenal.
Sources close to the player revealed that Sanchez has made up his mind and will not stay at Arsenal. The Chilean is desperate to move to Man City either in January or as free agent next summer.
Man City are confident of roping in Sanchez despite having failing to land him on a mega £60m bid on deadline day as Arsenal refused to sell their key player after transfer target Thomas Lemar turned down a £90m move to the Emirates.
Man City are not willing to spend anything more than £20m on the Chilean, who will be out of contract next summer.
As far as Ozil is concerned, Mourinho would love to sign him as he would face no problems in using the German in the Champions League, as the former Real Madrid player is not cup tied with Arsenal playing in the Europa League.
Reports claim that Wenger has identified wantaway PSG star Julian Draxler as a potential replacement for Ozil.
Meanwhile, Ray Wilkins suggested that Ozil isn’t good enough to inherit Wilshere’s shirt.
He said: “He is not a great player so why should he wear 10?
“Why should he nick that off Jack? I think the word ‘great’ is used far too often.
“I don’t think he has ever been a great player.
“He’s been a fantastic player. I don’t think he is a great player.
“You see him in the Premier League week in week out, he’s a good player, he’s a very good player.
“But the word ‘great’ is used far too often in this game.”
