Antonio Conte told Costa that he is not wanted at Chelsea next season and the Spanish striker is furious at the lack of respect the Blues boss showed by snubbing him by TEXT.

It is believed that Chelsea will face an uphill task in recovering the £32m they splurged for roping in Costa three years ago after he publicly disclosed that he is no more in Conte’s plans for the next season.

Former club Atletico Madrid are in pole position to re-sign the Spanish striker despite being hit with a transfer ban.

The Spanish striker has been also linked with a move to AC Milan amid rumours of a switch to the cash-rich Chinese Super League. However, Costa had accentuated that he would not move to China as it would decrease his chances of playing in the World Cup.

Costa has been under the radar of Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian and the Spanish striker was believed to be unhappy after Chelsea had blocked a mega offer from Chinese club in January.

The Chelsea hierarchy were keen on offering Costa a new deal before Christamas, but that was stalled after the Spaniard had a bust-up with Antonio Conte in January.

When asked about his future at Stamford Bridge, Costa said: “I don’t know.”

“I have two years left on my contract with Chelsea, they have to realise what they want to do with me. I have to wait to see what decision the club makes.”

The Chelsea bosses are not happy with Costa after he publicly revealed that Conte texted him to make it clear that he is not in his plans for the next season – and now it is understood that there is no way back for him to make peace with the London club.

FootTheBall sources reveal that Manchester United and Arsenal have also shown interest in the out-of-favour Chelsea hit-man.

Chelsea are now keen on roping in Everton contract rebel Romelu Lukakau to replace Costa but the Blues hierarchy would have to splurge a world record £100million in order to land the Belgian at Stamford Bridge.

The Spanish hit-man insisted that Spain knew that they were up for a difficult clash against Macedonia on Sunday.

David Silva scored the opener and Costa netted the second to take the game to bed before Stefan Ristovski’s pulled one back in the second half.

Costa said: “It was very important to win, we knew it would not be easy — look at the second half.”

“In the first half we could have scored more, but the second was complicated. We learned to be together and suffer.”

“These are very important games but the match against Italy [in September] is more so. Those of us [nearing a suspension] were very focused and knew how important it was not to see a yellow card.”

costaCosta displayed incredible form with 20 goals to his name in the Premier League as the Blues were crowned champions in Conte’s debut campaign in England.
