Chelsea Miss Out On Alvaro Morata As AC Milan ‘Close In On £61M Move’ For The Spaniard

Published on:

Chelsea target Alvaro Morata is set to join Serie A giants AC Milan, who have taken the transfer window by storm this summer.

The Spanish international scored 20 goals for Real Madrid last season but wants to start more often

The Real Madrid striker was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea after Manchester United gave up their chase for the Spaniard after roping in Blues target Romelu Lukaku for a whooping £75million.

Chelsea had launched a £62m bid for Morata, but the Spanish striker travelled with the Real Madrid squad for their pre-season campaign at the United States.

Real Madrid have rejected Chelsea’s £62million bid, having already turned down Man Utd’s  €80m (£71m) for the Spanish striker.

Chelsea had been told they’d have to pay £80million for the striker

According to FootTheBall sources, the Real Madrid hierarchy were holding out for an offer of €90m (£79m) for Morata. It is believed that the Blues have cooled down their interest in the Spaniard and are eyeing to rope in £65million rated Borussia Dortmund striker Aubameyang.

And now Morata could move back to Serie A and join AC Milan – who have surprised the footballing world with their transfer business so far this summer.

The Serie A club have already roped in the likes of Andre Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti, Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Fabio Borini, Leonardo Bonucci and Lucas Bigila in an outstanding £160million spending spree so far this summer.

Alvaro Morata is close to a move to AC Milan, according to reports in Italy

According to Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, AC Milan are closing in on a £61million move for Morata and are ready to offer the Spaniard a wage packet of £170,000-a-week.

If Moarta moves to Milan, he will take the club’s spending spree to over £200m and will become their twelfth signing of the summer.

This comes as a huge blow for Antonio Conte, who is desperately in search of a new striker as he does not want to keep Diego Costa at the club for the next season.

Diego Costa has made it clear that he is leaving Chelsea after partying in an old Atletico Madrid shirt.

The Spanish international is in Brazil and has been filmed partying in an old Atletico Madrid shirt and taking a dig at Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Diego Costa posted a video of himself partying in Lagarto

Conte had told Costa that he is not wanted at Chelsea next season and the Spanish striker was furious at the lack of respect the Blues boss showed by snubbing him via TEXT.

The former Atletico Madrid man wanted to make peace with Conte, but the Italian manager has made it clear that he does not want him to stay at the club.

La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are desperate to rope in Diego Costa on the cheap and it is believed that Chelsea would suffer a loss of £50m if the move happens.

The Blues could have easily raked in £76m by selling Costa to Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian in the last winter transfer window.

But now it seems very difficult as the Spanish striker went public to reveal that he is not wanted at Chelsea.

The La Liga club can still buy new players but they cannot register them due to a Fifa transfer embargo which will end in January 2018.

Costa can opt for a move to Atletico and then move on loan until the new year.

Costa has been given a week off to secure his switch to Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard has turned down a move to China as he wants to seal a spot in the Spain national squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

There has been reports that claim that Costa could join Besiktas on loan until the start of 2018 – and then move back to Atletico Madrid when the transfer embargo is lifted in January.

Chelsea have now identified Dortmund’s Aubameyang as a replacement for Diego Costa.

The striker has been offered to Chelsea for £65million.

However, Dortmund have made it clear that they are growing impatient with Chelsea’s delay in a move for the Gabon striker.

Conte will shift his attention to the Italian striker

The Blues have also been linked with moves for Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.

It seems that Belotti is set to leave the Serie A club after being left out of the kit launch for the new season and on the other hand Guardiola is willing to allow Aguero to leave Manchester City this summer.
