Barcelona are plotting a late bid for Monaco star Thomas Lemar after failing to land Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
The La Liga giants desperately wanted to rope in the Liverpool star but the Reds have rejected three back-to-back bids from Barca- making it clear that the Brazilian will not be sold.
And with just one day remaining for the summer transfer window to shut shop, Barca have made a huge push to rope in Lemar in case they cannot land the Brazilian.
And according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are now desperate to sign Lemar before Thursday’s deadline day amid huge interest from Liverpool.
Liverpool have already seen two bids rejected by AS Monaco for winger Thomas Lemar, according to Sky Sports.
The Reds had launched a latest bid of around £64.8m, having previously made an offer worth £55.5m for roping in the French winger.
Reports in France have claimed that the Ligue 1 club is not willing to sell their player and want him to stay at the club beyond this summer’s transfer window.
But now Liverpool are plotting an improved £74.4m third bid for Lemar, according to FootTheBall sources.
The talented French winger has 12 goals to his name in 39 appearances last season and has three years left on his current contract with Monaco.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Liverpool are ready to offer striker Divock Origi as a part of the deal to land Lemar at Anfield before the transfer window shuts shop on Thursday.
While the Reds could now lose out to Barca in the race for the Monaco star, it is believed that they will manage to keep Coutinho from moving to the Nou Camp.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga giants have already held talks with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has close ties with the Ligue 1 club, to convey their interest in Lemar, and are ready to negotiate a deal with Monaco for the French star.
