While his former club Barcelona suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the first-leg clash of the Spanish Super Cup, the £198million man won hearts with his incredible pace, first-touch, skills and finishing ability at the 18,000-seater Stade de Roudourou against Ligue 1 side Guingamp.

Neymar did not have everything go his way on his debut

The 25-year-old started on the left behind Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, with former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria on the right.

But as soon as he settled in he got his revenge on Ikoko in the 52nd minute – with the Congolese right-back apparently so terrified by Neymar’s marauding presence that forced him to plant the ball past his own keeper from 10 yards.

Meanwhile, £160m PSG target Kylian Mbappe watched from the bench as defending Ligue 1 champions Monaco beat Dijon 4-1.
