Thierry Henry Explains Why Sergio Aguero Is The Only World-Class Striker In The Premier League

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has insisted that Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero is the only world-class striker in the Premier League.

Aguero has made an incredible start to the season – with six goals already to his name in as many as Premier League games this campaign, and is just one goal away from matching Eric Brook as Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea new man Alvaro Morata shares the top spot with Aguero.

Aguero is joined atop the scoring charts by Morata and Lukaku

Meanwhile, Leicester hero Jamie Vardy (five goals) and Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane (4 goals) have also made positive starts to the season, but Arsenal legend Henry believes Aguero is top-notch and deserves most of the plaudits.

“The only one who is world class, or has been world class, is Aguero because of the longevity of what he has done in this league, year in and year out,” Henry told Sky Sports.

“He won the league here and he has been doing it the longest. You have to give him a bit of credit. I think sometimes we bypass Aguero like he didn’t happen.”

Kane has scored 4 goals so far

Aguero has won the Premier League twice and has scored at least 20 Premier League goals in four of his six seasons.

Romelu Lukaku has also scored 6 league goals so far

And Henry believes that the likes of Lukaku, Kane and Morata still have a lot to prove before reaching Aguero’s level.

“Lukaku has just arrived at Manchester United, he hasn’t played long in the Champions League,” he said.

“For Harry Kane, last season was short in the Champions League. It was short in the Europa League and the Euros.”

“Morata was often off the bench at Madrid. He had a good year at Juve but he was playing with [Fernando] Llorente or [Carlos] Tevez.”

“They will get there and we should be happy to have these players in our league.”
