Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes that Antoine Griezmann will stay put despite the Frenchman’s comments that there is a “six out of 10” chance he will join Manchester United.
Mourinho is desperate to bolster his squad and is keen on landing Griezmann at Old Trafford this summer.
The French striker has been heavily linked with a move to Man Utd in recent months and his recent comments have added more fuel to rumours that he is on the brink of making a switch to the Premier League club.
But Cerezo is confident that the Frenchman will stay out as Griezmann has not revealed a desire to leave and he also doesn’t expect any club to trigger the 26-year-old’s €100million buy-out clause.
Cerezo said: “His recent comments do not surprise me. He gets asked the same question all the time.”
“I think he is getting a little annoyed at having to answer the same question again and again when everyone knows his situation. The situation is that Antoine is an Atletico player and still has a contract for three or four more years.”
“He has never told me that he wants to leave.”
“There has not been any approach from Manchester United.”
“At the moment, no team has offered us to pay his release clause. And I do not think anyone will meet his clause.”
Griezmann’s current contract at Atletico Madrid is set to expire in June 2021.
