Tite and his men, who have already qualified for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia, managed to clinch a point in La Paz, 3640 above sea level.

After a hectic 90 minutes, PSG’s world-record signing Neymar took to social media to post a picture of him and his team-mates, and wrote that it was “inhumane” to play in such conditions. He also mentioned that the “field, altitude and ball [were] all bad”.

Brazil manager Tite also pointed out the challenges faced while playing at such an altitude following their goalless draw with Bolivia.

He said: “Playing here is very difficult. Strategically, I was very happy. We were upright, offensive. I want to emphasise this great performance. Happy for performance and upset about the result.

“I have to praise our professionals for all the logistics of the medical department that gave all the support to make people feel the effects less.”

The photo posted online showed Neymar, Jesus, Alex Sandro, Miranda, Marquinhos and Alisson all hooked up to oxygen masks.

Brazil’s star-studded team caused constant problems for Bolivia’s defence but could not find a way past goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, who made a series of fine saves.

Brazil’s best scoring chance came when Neymar and Gabriel Jesus combined late in the first half, only for Lampe to block the Manchester City forward’s shot with his face.

Neymar spurned several other opportunities after the break, including a free-kick from the edge of the box that flew just over the bar.

Brazil have already qualified for next year’s World Cup and are guaranteed to finish first in the 10-team South American zone group. Bolivia are ninth in the standings, with just four wins from 17 matches.
