Premier League giants, Manchester United are expected to splurge more cash, even after the world record Pogba deal is on the brink of completion.

Recent reports in Marca claim that the Red Devils are keen on signing Real Madrid winger James Rodriguez before the summer transfer window closes.

Rodriguez, whose value is in the region of £70m, has failed to find a place in the first team under Zidane and has drawn a lot of criticism from the fans.

Football pundits understand that James is no longer a fan favourite and the lack of game time may convince the Colombian midfielder to make a switch this summer.

James Rodriguez

Colombian captain James Rodriguez saw a dip in his form last season as he failed to live up to the expectations of the club manager Zinedine Zidane and also the board officials.

However, it is still believed that the Colombian star can regain his form as he is still considered as one of the most talented young midfielder in Europe.

Sources claim that Mourinho is fond of the winger and is all set to launch a tempting bid for bringing him to Old Trafford this summer. It is believed that Real Madrid would demand a whooping fee of £70m for the services of Rodriguez.

Critics believe that the recent signing of young midfielder Marco Asensio will make it tougher for Rodriguez, to clinch a permanent spot in the midfield at Real Madrid, forceing him to look for new pastures.

Zinidine Zidane

The news broke in despite the board officials and manager Zinedine Ziidane asserting that they want to hold on to the player as the club is aware of his tactical ability in the midfield. However the French coach did not assure that the winger would stay put at Real Madrid.

“There are many players in that position, so nothing is closed. We will talk about this when we return to Madrid, said Zidane.

“There are many players in this position and it is difficult to fit them all in. Moreover, they are all very good. We will make decisions.”

“I do not want James to leave. He is a Madrid player, he just wants to play more, but you have to do what he is doing and work. I hope to play him more this year but I want everyone to give their maximum, and then I decide before every game.”

“And I have 25 players, so I do not have anything against James, people always ask me the same. James is well in Madrid,” he concluded.
