Liverpool Agree To Sell Benteke To Crystal Palace For £32m

BentekePremier League side Crystal Palace have reportedly agreed in principle with Liverpool over a transfer move for out-of-favour Belgian striker Christian Benteke.

Foottheball sources claim that the transfer fee is believed to be in the region of £27m, which can further rise up to £30m after including other expenses.

Sources have also confirmed that Benteke is set to leave for London to undergo a medical before the expected deal.

Crystal Palace has been heavily linked with the Belgian striker in the last few months and have seen previous offers rejected by Liverpool. Palace manager Alan Pardew is desperate to rope in a new striker to bolster his attack before the summer transfer window closes.

Crystal Palace were also interested in Benteke’s international compatriot Michy Batshuayi but the former Marseille player joined Chelsea this summer.

It is believed that Alan Pardew has guaranteed Benteke a regular place in the first team, which he lacked in Liverpool.

Liverpool had signed Benteke from Aston Villa last summer for £32.5 million. However his recent performance in the Premier League was not up to the standards set by Liverpool. Inconsistency in his form prevented him from earning a spot in the first team.

The club had high hopes from him but Benteke failed to deliver up front and managed to score only 9 Premier League goals in 29 appearances. Benteke was also denied a start in Liverpool’s Europa League final clash against Sevilla and was brought as a substitute in the 83rd minute.

Chelsea are also interested in Manchester United target Gabriel Barbosa and it is believed that Remy’s departure would make room for the Blues to sign new players.
