Manchester City star forward Raheem Sterling has been pictured while using his bargaining skills during shopping in a Poundworld store.

He was looking for the best deals at the store at the Arndale Centre, which is just few miles away from his luxurious £3.5m penthouse in trendy Wilmslow.

Sterling has already proved his mettle at Manchester City under Guardiola and earned 29 caps for England so far.

Despite being the most expensive English player ever, Sterling was snapped holding a plastic bag and with a basket near his feet.

He looked peppy in a black baseball cap, black hoodie, tracksuit and white t-shirt when he was pictured exploring the toiletries – with a signboard clearly mentioning ‘Amazing Value Only £1’ just above his head.

Other people present in the shop couldn’t believe their own eyes, when they spotted Sterling shopping in the budget store.

Local Graham Spence told the media: “Raheem earns £180,000-a-week – he could have bought everything in the store if he’d wanted.”

“It’s nice to see that superstars shop at the same place as everyone else.”

Another local tweeted: “He must have saved a bomb!”

Sterling also posed for pictures with a fan, who sported a Nike t-shirt with ‘Football’ written on it and later the Man City star chatted with the workers and other customers.

The Poundworld store is located just two miles from the Etihad Stadium.

Earlier Chelsea legend John Terry, who earns around £150,000-a-week was also spotted at a Poundworld store in Surrey.

A spokesman for Poundworld said: “We take our hats off to Mr Sterling, a savvy shopper indeed.”

“We work tirelessly to offer great products at great prices, and help people save more on their weekly shop.”
