Inter Milan Sack Frank De Boer As Laurent Blanc Emerges Favorite To Take Over At San Siro
Frank de Boer has officially been sacked by Inter Milan after the Nerazzurri’s disastrous start to the 2015/16 campaign.
FootTheBall had reported yesterday that the Inter hierarchy was set to give de Boer the axe on Tuesday.
De Boer was hired this summer just 9 days before the season began after the club parted ways with club icon Roberto Mancini.
The former Ajax boss lost 7 of his first 14 matches and was relieved of his duties on Tuesday.
The club issued a statement on Tuesday morning which read “FC Internazionale Milan announce today that they have parted company with head coach Frank de Boer with immediate effect.
“Inter Primavera coach Stefano Vecchi will take temporary charge of the first team for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League match against Southampton.
“Inter would like to place on record its thanks to Frank and his coaching team for their work with the club over the past months and wishes them the best for the future. Further announcements regarding the first-team coaching position will be made in due course.”
Laurent Blanc has been made the hot favorite to land the San Siro job and the Frenchmen could take charge by next week according to FootTheBall sources.
“He is interested in the offer,” a source close to Blanc told La Parisien. Blanc is also a former player of the Italian giants having spent 2 years at the San Siro, from 1999 to 2001.
