WATCH: Man City Clinch Champions League Qualification With Easy Victory Over Steaua
Premier League side Manchester City qualified for Champions League group stage campaign with a 1-0 (6-0 aggregate) victory over Steaua Bucharest in the second leg clash of Champions League qualifying play-off on Wednesday.
Man City had an upper hand after they thrashed Steaua Bucharest 5-0 in the first leg clash last Tuesday.
Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been highly linked with a summer exit but Pep handed him a spot in the first team on Wednesday. Yaya Toure, who has been struggling to regain fitness, also started in the second leg clash of Champions League qualifying play-off against Steaua Bucharest. Aguero started on the bench as Pep lined up talented youngster Kelechi Iheanacho up front.
The talented 19-year-old striker showed early sparks and tested the keeper with a venomous strike from distance within 10 minutes from kick off. He launched another effort on goal 15 minutes later, but his weak effort was easily saved by the keeper.
Nolito got on the end of a Jesus Navas cross to launch an effort on goal but his right-footed strike was comfortably saved by the keeper.
Man City pushed more men forward after restart and Fabian Delph opened the scoring in the 56th minute. Delph got on the end of a Jesus Navas cross before slotting home a header.
Steaua came back strong after going down by one goal, and posed trouble for the out-of-favour Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Despite reports claiming that this would be his farewell match, Hart proved his mettle by clinching a clean sheet.
