Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has backed Chelsea’s appointment of Antonio Conte, calling the current Italy international Coach a “top manager”.

Conte has been appointed by chelsea as the permanent replacement to former boss Jose Mourinho, and the Italian will take charge of the Blues after the EUROs.

Ancelloti praised Conte for his attention to detail and called him a very proffessional individual.

Ancelotti – who won the league and FA Cup double in his first season with the Blues, said while talking to FourFourTwo “Conte is a hard worker: really serious, really professional and always focused on his job. Chelsea are getting a top manager who will look at all the little details.

“Coming to England from Italy, he will find a different world: less pressure, no violence, a great atmosphere, full stadiums – just totally different from Italy at this moment. He can definitely be a success at Chelsea. The club has a lucky relationship with Italians. There was Gianluca Vialli, me, and then Roberto Di Matteo, who helped them to win the Champions League.”

Ancelloti was sacked by Chelsea after the team finished second and failed to progress beyond quarter-finals of all cup competitions, just a year after he won them a league and cup double.

The Italian also said that he would have no problems in returning to his former club in the future.

“Did Chelsea ask me to return to the club last year? No, no. But I would have no problem going back to Chelsea. My experience with Chelsea, and in English football, was fantastic.” is what he said when asked if he would be willing to return at Stamford Bridge in the future.
