Dempsey scored the first for USA followed by goals from Jermaine Jones and Bobby Wood in the 37th and 42nd minute to put the game to bed at Half Time as Costa Rica failed to hold on to a positive start.
Costa Rica started on a positive note but failed to build momentum and hardly fought back in the second half.
Zusi scored the fourth for USA in the 87th minute to keep their hopes alive for a spot in the knock-out stage of the competition.
