Cristiano Ronaldo, the Juventus striker, is once again being associated with a transfer to Old Trafford, with Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting that he is happy to accept a salary reduction to facilitate the move.

Ronaldo, 36, has an agreement that runs till June 2022 and pays him €31 million per year, but he is dissatisfied and wants to leave the Italian giants because the team has failed in both domestic and European competitions this season.

RONALDO’S PREVIOUS STINT AT OLD TRAFFORD

The Portuguese forward was a prominent player during big accomplishments at both Manchester United and Real Madrid, with the attacker capturing several titles at both clubs. Sir Alex Ferguson described him as one of only four “world-class” talents he had at Manchester United.
The talisman helped the Red Devils in winning 4 Domestic titles and a FA Cup. Not only that Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary team was also able to bring a champions league trophy to Old Trafford because of the Portuguese’s contribution.

Wherever he went trophies followed him. The legend then moved to Spain to play for Real Madrid. After joining Real Madrid in 2009 at a whopping price of 94 million Euros, Ronaldo has been a shining sun in the dark clouds of Madrid. Ronaldo managed to acquire 4 Champions League trophies combined with 2 Spanish titles at Madrid. His form with Los Blancos made them the most successful and dominant team in Europe.

WHAT WENT WRONG AT TURIN?

Ronaldo was bought by Juventus for a whopping fee of 105 million pounds. He intended to help the Italian giants win titles. Though he managed to win the Serie A twice, he couldn’t replicate his champions league heroics at the club. Ronaldo has continued to be a prolific goal scorer for Juventus this campaign, scoring 32 goals in 38 games, but the club is currently fourth in Serie A with just a handful of games remaining.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), After an unsatisfactory year in Turin, Ronaldo hopes to find a team that can earn him championships and titles at the end of the day.

RONALDO WANTS A TRANSFER BACK TO UNITED?

Juventus is in financial difficulty and is prepared to allow the Portuguese international to leave for a minimum price of €29 million to help them make up the shortfall. The team is also said to be considering incorporating Ronaldo in an offer for Manchester United player Paul Pogba, but such an offer would complicate things for the ‘Old Lady’. Also, The Red Devils are not keen on selling the Frenchman who has had a great season at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo, who is one of the greatest players in the world is adamant about not lowering his annual wages below €20 million.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Solskjaer reportedly said that he would love to see the Portuguese return to his former club. There were some conjectures that he might return to the Bernabeu but club director, Florentina Perez brushed them off. Florentino Perez told El Chiringuito recently: “Cristiano Ronaldo will not come back to Real Madrid. It does not make sense, he has a contract with Juventus. I love him a lot, he has given us a lot.”
