David De Gea Heaps Praise On Eric Bailly As Defender Is Named Man Utd’s Player Of The Month

Eric BaillyMan Utd ace defender Eric Bailly made an immediate impact after joining the Red Devils under Jose Mourino this summer.

Bailly delivered a series of incredible performances right from the start of the new season and earned huge accolades from fans and the club hierarchy. He has been named United’s player of the month for August as he surpassed another hot summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic made an equally convincing start to his Premier League campaign.

Speaking to the media, Man United’s star goalkeeper David de Gea revealed his opinion about Bailly who made a switch to Old Trafford from La Liga side Villarreal for £30m. The Spanish goalkeeper accentuated that he and his teammates are highly impressed with the Bailly’s qualities and control over the ball.

Bailly played a pivotal role in Man Utd’s Community Shield victory over Leicester City followed by a highly convincing debut against Bournemouth and consecutive clean sheets against Southampton and Hull City saw him earning the player of the month award.

baillyBailly bagged three man of the match awards in United’s four competitive matches till date and now De Gea has heaped praise on the former Villarreal man.

De Gea asserted that matching the standards after moving to one of the top flight clubs in England from Spain is tough, but Bailly has been impressive.

De Gea“Eric’s come in and surprised us all very quickly. I remember when I first came to England and, trust me, it can be hard early on but he’s flying.”

“‘He is physical, strong, technically confident and super-fast… He’s a big presence and when I stand in the tunnel and look behind me, he is one of the new big, powerful players along with Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic that gives us real presence and stature this season,” added the goalkeeper.

Bailly is set to prove his mettle against one of the toughest competitors in the league on Saturday as Man Utd lock horns with Man City at Old Trafford.
