Dimitri Payet’s transfer saga has taken a new turn as his agent has rubbished claims of his client giving any interview to the Sun.

The Sun had claimed that they interviewed the French international in which he claimed that he was ‘100 per cent’ sure of staying at West Ham.

Payet was quoted as saying that he had his heart set in West Ham and that even though interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid was flattering, he was staying at the Olympic Stadium.

“I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered.

“But I love West Ham. We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium. I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”

Meanwhile, just a day later Payet’s agent Jacques Oliver Auguste has expressed shock on the statement, claiming his client never made the above mentioned comments.

“I am surprised by this information because Dimitri has not done an interview with any media outlet,” he said.

“The only thing that is certain is that he is enjoying his holidays that he deserves and he is licking the wounds caused by the EURO 2016 final defeat. So he is only thinking about recharging at the moment.

“These declarations are pure inventions in the imagination of a journalist. This deserved a response.”

Payet won the club’s Player of the Year award in his debut season, after he was signed from Marseille last summer for a fee of £10.7 million.

He helped West Ham to finish seventh in the Premier League, just 4 points less than the fourth Champions League spot takers Manchester City.

The 29-year also carried his form in the Euro’s, helping hosts France reach the finals, before losing to Portugal 1-0.
