A huge relief for West Ham owners and fans as star midfielder Dimitri Payet has confirmed that he is staying at the club.
The 29-year old was one of the break-through players from last season, as the French international carried his club form into the Euro’s for his national team.
Payet scored three goals in the Euro’s and it was reported that several European biggies were after his signature, but Payet has finally put the rumours to rest.
The East London out-fit have just moved to a new stadium as the club are looking to build on a solid season, with the owners looking to turn the Hammers into a regular at European football.
Payet in a recent interview said that he was happy at West Ham while adding ‘I’m 100 per cent staying.’
Payet also said that even though interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid was tempting and flattering, his love for the Hammers is just too strong.
He added: ‘I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered. But I love West Ham. We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium.
‘I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.’
Payet won the club’s Player of the Year award in his debut season, after he was signed from Marseille last summer for a fee of £10.7million.
