Recent rumours suggest that Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain is interested in a summer move to Liverpool.

The Mirror reports that the former Real Madrid forward is keen on joining Liverpool and work with the iconic manager Jurgen Klopp, despite Liverpool failing to qualify for any major European competition this season.

Higuain joined Napoli from Real Madrid in the summer transfers of 2013 as a replacement for their star forward Edison Cavani.

The Argentine forward was an instant hit at Napoli and with 53 goals in two seasons, Higuain is now considered to be at par with the best strikers of the world.

Higuain’ broke the 66 year old goal scoring record at Napoli this season, netting 36 goals in 35 league appearences and is under the radar of big European clubs this summer.

It is expected that Liverpool will look to bolster their attack this summer after failing to impress their fans last season with no place at the European competitions. The £32.5m signing Christian Benteke has been inconsistent and failed to deliver this season and his future at Anfield still remains uncertain. Football enthusiasts believe that Higuain can step up the game for Liverpool with his agility and tremendous goal scoring potential up the front.

With an incredible season at Nopli, Higuain is under the radar of big clubs this summer. It has been reported that the Argentine forward has an approximate release clause of £72m to his name. PSG look immensely interested as they find the Napoli striker perfect to fit into the shoes of departing Zlatan.

Manchester United have also showed some interest in the Napoli striker but it is believed that the free agent Ibrahimovic, still remains their main target with Mourinho having the final call.

Chelsea too are impressed with Higuain’s record breaking season at Napoli and are equally at the race to sign the 28-year-old striker. The main reason behind this would be Chelsea’s disastrous 9th placed finish last season. The blues are desperate to bolster their forward line to create a positive impact from the very beginning under the mentorship of Antonio Conte. Rumours suggest that the Italian Coach believes that Higuain is the perfect player to boost their squad with his goal scoring prowess.
