Lindelof Shows Just Why Man Utd Are Ready To Spend £42m With Impressive Stats For Benfica

Published on:

Benfica star Victor Lindelof is on the verge of joining Manchester United on a £42million move in the January transfer window.

Manchester United bosses are highly impressed with his performances for the Portuguese club and Mourinho looks forward to strengthen the United defence by adding him to the squad.

Lindelof played what is believed to be his last match for Benfica on Wednesday and proved  a point with his impressive stats in the game.

His performance last night in Benfica’s 2-0 win over Rio Ave is enough to tell you why Manchester United are set to splurge £42million for his signatures this January.

Post-match stats show that Lindelof finished the game with a 100 per cent of tackles won – and he also successfully won every single aerial duel.

One thing that has really impressed Mourinho is Lindelof’s ability with the ball at his feet.

And Lindelop proved his mettle with a 93 per cent pass accuracy in last night’s game.

He helped Benfica to keep a clean sheet with his four crucial interceptions and two clinical clearances, which helped the team to retain their four point lead over Porto in the Primeira Liga.

After struggling in the earlier part of the season, Mourinho has now brought things under control as Jones, Darmian, Rojo, and Bailly have impressed with their recent performances.

However, Mourinho is still keen on strengthening the Manchester United defence by bringing in a new central defender. And now he has identified Lindelof as the right man to take charge of the United defence.

Phil Jones and Rojo have proved their mettle after a series of convincing performances.

Bailly is currently out of action due to injury, but it is believed he is other first-choice centre-back for Mourinho.

And now pundits believe that Chris Smalling and Daley Blind would face the axe after Lindelof’s arrival at Old Trafford.
