Juventus have rejected the first bid from Manchester United for superstar midfielder Paul Pogba.

United had submitted a bid of a £87 million with around £13 million extra in performance related add-ons, but the Italian giants value their prized possession in excess of a £100 million and will reject anything under it.

If United accept the Old Lady’s demands, it will make Pogba, the world’s most expensive player, overtaking Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the French midfielder and has reportedly told Woodward to sign the 23-year old at all costs.

United will table a wage of around £250,000-per-week to their former star, if the Bianconeri accept their bid.

Pogba has been one of the most sought after player in Europe for a couple of years now, and Mourinho tried to sign the Frenchmen during his time with Chelsea last summer, but failed at the last minute.

Pogba left Manchetser United in 2012 after falling out with then manager and club legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

United are sure to get back with an improved offer, after club chief Ed Woodward chose to stay back from the teams China tour to focus on the deal.

Real Madrid are the only other club interested in the player at the moment, but their boss Zidane confirmed that the club had given up on signing his compatriot.

Zidane said “Do I like Pogba? Of course, he’s a very good player and every club wants the best players but right now he’s at Juve and we have a large squad already,” he said.

“There are still lots of players yet to join up with the squad and with the Euros going on we couldn’t do anything. We have three games coming up and that’s the focus at the moment.”

Zlatan signing

Manchester United are also hoping to get help from Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, who also manages, clubs latest signing the Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However Raiola rubbished any rumours linking Pogba to United, making the deal more complicated for the Red Devils.
