‘We Must Believe That We Can Beat Any Team’, Guardiola Lauds Man City After Cup Win

Published on:

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that club players and fans should believe that they can beat any team after thrashing West Ham.

City have struggled for consistency since Guardiola’s arrival but showed good signs of improvement at the London stadium. Goals from Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, John Stones and David Silva ensured a fourth round place for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola has now won 5 games out of his last six. A 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Anfield dented his title ambitions.

But Guardiola is eager to implement his big game mentality with Champions league knockout round looming.

“We were able to keep the ball better than the last games and we created more chances. Before the penalty, we had three or four chances and with the second and third goals it was easier for the second half,” told Guardiola.

“It is important to win away, it is not easy. Hopefully it can help us to make our players believe that they are good enough to play every game.”

“I would like to involve our fans and they can believe that we are good.”

“I do not know what happened in the past but we are good guys, so all the season we run a lot, fight a lot, playing good, sometimes not playing good.”

“But they have to believe they can compete everywhere against every team.”

The Spanish manager also cleared the air on ongoing Holger Badstuber rumours stating that he is “still a Bayern Munich player.”
