Saul Niguez Wants New Atletico Madrid Contract Amid Man Utd And Barcelona Interest
Spanish star Saul Niguez accentuated that he is happy with life at Atletico Madrid, but is eyeing an improved deal at the Spanish club.
Saul has proved his mettle at the La Liga club over the past two seasons and now he has drawn huge interest from top flight European clubs.
He is currently on international duty for Spain at the Euro Under-21 Championships in Poland and has drawn huge attention after netting a hat-trick in their win over Italy in the semi-final clash.
Saul’s current contract at Atletico will run out in 2021, but the Spanish midfielder has ruled out all rumours about a move, for the second time in 24 hours.
But he revealed that is eagerly eyeing a new contract, at a time when Atletico has been handed a transfer ban.
“I am happy at Atletico and I feel valued but everyone would like to earn a bit more money to be able to help out the family,” Saul told reporters in Poland.
“I’m fine at Atletico. I don’t want to leave. It was hard to get the confidence of Cholo [Diego Simeone] and now that I have it, it would be very difficult to start from zero at another team.”
“I don’t see myself outside Atletico, something very surprising would have to happen.”
Saul’s comments come after the club president Enrique Cerezo rubbished all rumours about offloading the youngster.
“Saul is a very good player and he has a long-term contract at Atletico,” Cerezo said.
“I don’t think he has any agreements with other clubs, or anything like that. Saul is at Atleti, and he won’t be going anywhere.”
