Villarreal Loss Leaves Diego Simeone Fuming As Atletico Madrid Boss Claims His Side Have ‘Four Finals’ To Play

Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid face an uphill task after losing to Villarreal at home on Tuesday.

Simeone’s men faced a shocking defeat at the Vicente Calderon – endangering their Champions League qualification chances.

Diego said that the Rojiblancos now have four finals to play as they look to seal a berth for next season’s Champions League.

It was Roberto Soriano goal in the 82nd minute that ended Atleti’s 11-match unbeaten run in all competition.

Atleti are just three points clear of fourth placed Sevilla, who have a game in hand.

Diego Simeone said that his team now have four finals to play, “We have to wait for future results we do not have to rush.”

“We are in four finals and we will see what happens.”Diego Simeone

He continued: “I’m going with the sensations of football, football is this, a lot of times we win like that, it’s part of the game. The ball did not want to go in.”

“We were not fine for the last pass, they took advantage of the situation they had.”

Of Villarreal, Diego Simeone added: “We’ve had three or four games at Calderon that we do not give them goals and it also costs us, it’s a team that are prepared to fight for the top positions.”

“We’ve had chances in every game, we’ve won against a team that plays very well on the defensive side.”

The Argentine was then asked whether his team missed a forward like Diego Costa, who is now plying his trade at Chelsea.

“I could answer so many things and I have so much respect for the question that I’m going to say no” he added.
