New chief at Tottenham

Published on:

With the sacking of Antonio Conte, things are changing at an express rate at Tottenham Hotspur. Conte’s sacking could not have come at a more worse time for the club as they also saw their managing director Fabio Paratici being banned for 30 months after an investigation by Italian Football Federation which uncovered a substantial financial scam which saw Juventus being docked 15 points and several officials banned including Paratici. And thus, the Italian has gone on a leave of absence. Under these circumstances, Daniel Levy appointed Scott Munn as the Chief Football Officer.

The club said that Munn’s appointment was already in the works and was unrelated to the situation involving Paratici. But who is Scott Munn, and what will he bring to the table at Tottenham?

Who is Scott Munn?

Scott Munn is a former executive of the City Football Group and has headed their China division for years. Munn comes with extensive experience in the sports field. He first came to notice as a member of the committee that organised the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

From there, he transitioned into the National Rugby League before getting his first gig in football as the Chief Executive Officer of Australian League club Melbourne City FC, which is also part of the City Group.

According to recent reports, Munn will act as the deputy for Daniel Levy and will be responsible for both the men’s and women’s teams. His appointment also allows Tottenham to have a person of experience that can guide the club and also take some load off Performance Director Gretar Steinsson and Head of football strategy Andy Scoulding who have been covering for Paratici ever since he went on leave.

This will also be his first experience in the Premier League, and if Paratici leaves the club, Munn’s first significant job will be to find the Italian’s replacement.

In addition, he will also lead the search for a new manager, with assistant manager Cristian Stellini serving only till the end of the season.
