Donnarumma Leaving Milan? You Must Be Joking Mate – Says AC Milan CEO Galliani
One man – or rather a teenager has played a huge part in the resurgence of the Rossoneri, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 18-year-old has become the most sought after young goalkeeper in Europe after a string of wonderful performances.
The 17-year-old has become the heir apparent for Gianluigi Buffon’s throne as the next Azzurri stopper.
With such high stakes and such magnificent performances, it was inevitable that some of Europe’s biggest clubs would eye the teenage stopper, but AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has said that Donnarumma will stay at the club “many years to come”, adding that rumours linking the stopper to Juventus a joke.
Galliani was asked whether he thought that Donnarumma was the long-term replacement for Buffon in not just the Italian team but Juventus as well, the Rossoneri CEO replied, “You must be joking. Donnarumma is a Milan player.”
“I hope and I’m convinced that he’ll be a Milan player for many years to come.”
“I think he’ll be the heir to Buffon in the national team, though Buffon is still a great goalkeeper. Buffon has a contract with Juventus until 2018, he is doing very well.”
Donnarumma has kept 4 clean-sheets helping Milan to slowly but steadily catch up with Juventus at the top of the table.
