Juventus Rule Out January Bid For Liverpool’s Can

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta made it clear that Serie A champions Juventus are not going to make a January bid for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

Can’s current Liverpool contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the German star is yet to agree to an extension.

Can has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus over the summer but now it seems that the Turin based club have cooled down their interest in the midfielder.

Marotta feels that Premier League giants Liverpool will not sell their key player in the middle of the season.

“We don’t believe we have to make a move in January. We have a competitive squad,” he told Premium Sport.

“We have three players in midfield. We have young players. We’re confident in them.”

When asked about interest in Can, he said:”I don’t think there’s anything there. I don’t think Liverpool will want to lose an important player.”

Can, who arrived at Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, has got nine starts for Liverpool in all competitions this season – with two goals to his name, both of them in their Champions League qualifying win over Hoffenheim.
