Pep Guardiola wants a £50m war chest to bolster his squad this month

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is keen on roping in Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez after Gabriel Jesus picked up an injury at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

And the Portuguese has hinted that he wants a back-up player for injury-prone City skipper Vincent Kompany.

Alexis Sanchez remains Pep’s top target

Sources reveal that Guradiola will meet chief exec Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain to convince them about his plans for the January transfer window.

Man City would have preferred to wait until the end of the season for Sanchez, who will be available for free in the summer, but Jesus’ recent injury, has now forced them to consider making a move for the Chilean in January.

And now Arsenal will want at least £25m for their prized asset.

Man City is interested in Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez

Man City have also identified Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez, who has a £28m release clause, as back-up for central-defender Kompany.

Umtiti is also on Man City’s radar

The current Premier League leaders are also monitoring the availability of Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti.

According to reports in France, Umtiti has a £53m release clause at Barcelona.
