Man Utd’s Paul Pogba Wins Europa League Player Of The Season Award

Paul Pogba has won the the Europa League Player of the Season award after playing a pivotal role in Manchester United’s success last season.

The French midfielder started every game for Man Utd in Europe’s second-flight competition last term as Jose Mourinho lifted the Europa League title in his debut campaign with the Red Devils.

Pogba took time to settle with life after his €105 million return to Old Trafford and had drawn huge criticism in the earlier half of the season. But Morinho had faith in him and he proved his manager right – doing better with every passing game – ending the season with 10 goals and six assists to his name in all competitions.

The Frenchman had scored the opener in the Europa League final as Man Utd outplayed Ajax 2-0.

That was Pogba’s third goal of the Europa League campaign, having previously scored twice against Fenerbahce, while having created 22 chances and providing one assist, according to Opta.

And his impressive displays in the European campaign landed him the best Europa League Player of the Season award.

Having won the Europa League, Man Utd sealed a place in the Champions League group stages, where Pogba and his team-mates have been drawn alongside Benfica, Basel and CSKA Moscow.

The Red Devils  have clinched two consecutive 4-0 wins against West Ham and Swansea in the Premier League and Shearer believes that Mourinho’s intelligent transfer business this summer – bringing in Lukaku, Matic and Lindelof  and his tactical brilliance mean United are step ahead in the title race this season.
