Mourinho Eyes £50m Swoop For Dortmund Wonderkid Ousmane Dembele, With Perisic Also On Radar

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is testing the patience of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund as he is keen on roping in teen star Ousmane Dembele.

Sources reveal that Man Utd would have to splurge up to £50million for securing the signatures of the French striker, after his incredible form this season for the Bundesliga club.

Dembele, 19, was under the radar of top-flight European clubs and had snubbed Man Utd, Chelsea, and Arsenal to join Dortmund from Rennes last summer.

Dembele had opted to join the German club because he believed that he would get more game time and exposure at Dortmund, a club well known for developing youngsters – and his decision saw him registering his name amongst the most talented rising stars in the footballing circuit.

The teenager has proved his mettle at Dortmund under Thomas Tuchel  – scoring twice in their run to the Champions League quarter finals.

And FootTheBall understands that Man Utd have a chance only if they launch a tempting bid for the French teenager. But it is believed that the Dortmund hierarchy would not be willing to sell another talented player and especially after only one season.

Foottheball sources reveal that if the Premier League giants fail to reach an agreement in principle with Dortmund over a transfer bid for Dembele, Mourinho has another option in Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic.

Perisic have recently parted ways with his representative and signed with super-agent Pini Zahavi and his Balkans expert Fali Ramadani.

Lian Sports, run by Ramadani has announced Perisic as a client and his new agent is confident that he can seal a wage packet of £100,000-a-week at Old Trafford for the Croatian.

Man Utd boss Mourinho had flown to Zagreb during the last international to monitor Perisic’s performance for Croatia and also to meet with his pal Predrag Mijatovic.

The Portuguese manager shares a good bond with Mijatovic, the former Real Madrid player and sporting director.

Earlier, the duo have successfully worked on a number of transfers – roping in players from  the Balkans, which also includes the signing of Luka Modric for Real Madrid and bringing back Nemanja Matic at Chelsea.

And now it is believed that landing Dembele this season might require lengthy negotiations as Dortmund would not be willing to offload their teen sensation but roping in Perisic sounds more realistic – with Man Utd desperate to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window.
