Wenger Targets £40m Swoop For Riyad Mahrez After Agreeing Two-Year Deal To Stay At Arsenal

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is set to begin his new era by completing two stellar signings.

The Frenchman has finally agreed to stay and has signed a new two-year deal at the North London club.

And now he believes that he can guide the Gunners to their first Premier League title since 2004.

The veteran manager will have complete control over player signings, coaching, scouting, after holding final talks with club owner Stan Kroenke.

Wenger has won his battle with the board – shoving off plans to hire a new director of football.

Arsene Wenger has revolutionised football at the North London club and guided them to three Premier League titles, seven FA Cup wins and three Community Shield trophies during his 21-year illustrious career at Arsenal.

And now Wenger plans to reshuffle his squad and has requested the board for funds so that he can challenge , , , and Tottenham next season.

Wenger is looking forward to make two stellar signings but he faces an uphill battle to persuade his current superstars, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, to stay at the club.

Both players have only a year left on their agreements.

The Gunners will now offer Sanchez a new deal – a two-year extension and a wage packet of £275,000-a-week to keep him at the club until 2020.

The club bosses are desperate to tie down Ozil and have already offered him a wage packet of £280,000-a-week but the German superstar had stalled negotiations as his representatives are forcing for around £350,000-a-week.

Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, , Chelsea and are all desperate to rope in the services of the Chilean – with the champions having already made a strong effort to lure him away.

Foottheball sources also reveal that Sanchez wants to stay in the Premier League and Manchester City are in pole position to rope him in.

Man City are confident that a £50m offer would be enough to tempt the Gunners and pundits believe that if the Chilean wants to move away then it would be difficult for Arsenal to tie him down.

However, there has not been the same level of interest in Ozil and the Gunners hierarchy do not want the star duo to run down their contracts and leave for free.

Wenger also has a plan B and he is looking forward to enter the bidding war for Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez, who slapped a written transfer request yesterday.

It is understood that the Foxes will demand at least £40million for their star player, who had joined them from French side Le Havre for £400,000 in 2014.

Mahrez had played a pivotal role to guide the Foxes to their first ever Premier League title triumph last year and then reached the Champions League quarter-finals this season.

mahrezHe wrote: “Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester I wanted to be totally honest and transparent. I have informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on.”

“I had a good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year. I’ve had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment.”

mahrez“I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League champions.”
