Wenger Tells Monaco Wonder-Kid Mbappe To Snub Real Madrid And Get A Regular Start At Arsenal

Published on:

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has advised Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe to join a club where he will get regular game-time.

Earlier this week, FootTheBall had reported that Premier League giants Arsenal have launched a whooping a £87million bid for Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Wenger has been monitoring Mbappe’s incredible form in Ligue 1 this season and now the Frenchman wants to launch a sensational bid to land him at Arsenal.

As we know Wenger, he has never shown interest in spending huge cash on one player, but this time around it seems he has changed his policy after signing a new two-year deal with the Gunners.

And now Arsenal boss Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis were spotted at Nice airport, adding spark to rumours that they were in France to launch a tempting offer for the £100million-rated striker.

The French manager had tried to secure the services of the wonder-kid last summer and would have to splurge only £230,000 under Fifa’s compensation rules.

And if he now ropes in Mbappe for a mammoth £87million transfer fee – it will be more than double of his record signing of Mesut Ozil, worth £42.5million.

Arsenal were handed a boost when Mbappe said that he is “not afraid to leave” Monaco after Manchester City cooled down their interest in him following a reported £113.5million bid to rope in the French teen sensation.

Mbappe said: “Why play less? I’ll have time to reflect on that and no, I’m not afraid to leave.”

Foottheball sources reveal that Real Madrid and Manchester United are also keen on securing the signatures of the France striker, who wants regular game-time wherever he goes.

Man Utd have launched a £73.5m bid for Mbappe, according to FoottheBall sources.

But France coach Didier Deschamps has urged Mbappe to move to a club that would manage his career carefully.

And Wenger revealed: “Where do you think he might finish? Somewhere where he is sure to play. That is why Deschamps made that statement.”

“He thinks he needs to play, but I’d say the boy has made enough of an  impression to be sure that a club who spends £100m for you gives you the red carpet treatment.”

Mbappe is on international duty for France and will take a final call on his future after games against Sweden and England.

Wenger believes that the teenage star has all the potential to become one of the world’s greatest players.

He added: “You have the generation of  players now between 24 and 28 years old who should come in next for the Ballon d’Or.”

“You have Neymar in there certainly, maybe Griezmann can come in, you have Mbappe.”

Earlier, Mbappe dashed Real Madrid’s hopes of a possible summer transfer.

He said: “I dreamed of Zidane the player, not the coach.”

“Zidane the player made me dream and still makes me dream when I watch videos of him.”

“The coach is completely different, he is a great coach who has quickly achieved results and continues to develop.”
