With reports of Arsenal targeting a little unknown player from Japan, the player himself recently admitted being surprised to hear of an interest from the London club.

Takuma Asano who plays for Sanfrecce Hiroshima as a forward confirmed the news following Japan’s Olympic warm-up over South Africa.

“I was a little stunned,” Asano is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard when he was quizzed on the subject

“I feel like I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go. If I am loaned elsewhere, my take on it is that I give it 100%,” the 21-year-old said.

Asano just has three years of J-League experience to his name, but the player is ready for the challenge of a move to north London and is prepared to take everything in his stride if he isn’t involved with the first-team right away.
