Premier League side Manchester United are keen on roping in a top-class defender in the upcoming January transfer Window.

Foottheball sources claim that the Red Devils are all set to launch a whooping bid of £30m for Atletio Madrid central defender Diego Godin.

diego-godinReports confirm that the Man Utd bosses would allow Mourinho to offload up to eight players before he starts the next Premier League season.

Mourinho has failed to find the perfect combination and after a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign, Manchester United are eight in the table after 10 league games. And now the Portuguese manager is desperate to revamp his squad before the start of the new season.

Statiscics clearly show that Mourinho has failed to impress the fans after a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign. The Portuguese splurged £145m on three big signings in the summer – which includes the likes of world record signing Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic came as a free agent.

Mourinho wants to strengthen the United defence and now the club bosses are desperate to bring in Atletico Madrid centre-half Godin. The Premier League giants are also ready to beat his current £70,000-a-week wages by a huge margin.

rojo-blindMourinho is not happy with the performances of makeshift defenders Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo and he wants Godin to solve the defensive woes.

Godin has been under the banner of top-flight clubs for his incredible performances for the Spanish side Atletico Madrid and has played a pivotal role while on international duty for Uruguay.

The Uruguayian defender has a good control over the ball and is a natural organiser. It is believed that he would form a good partnership with new man Eric Bailly, which would mould United’s defence into a rock-solid unit.

godinSources close to the Premier League club have insisted that Mourinho would offload several players in the January transfer window and make room for Godin.

Out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger trained with the United first team last week.

schweinsteigerThis might be a major u-turn from Jose Mourinho, who had earlier confirmed that the German playmaker would never play a match for Manchester United – and would not feature in the reserves.

rooney-and-schweinsteigerEarlier, the 32-year-old midfielder was dropped from the 25-member Europa League squad and was also missing from the club’s recent team photograph. However, it would be interesting to see whether Mourinho has reversed his decision to the German in Man Utd’s struggling midfield.

DIego GodinUnited are ready to spend big again despite Godin’s age. The central defender has proved his worth in the last few seasons and it is believed that he has still a lot to offer in the next three or four years.

Atletico Madrid would be unwilling to sell their star man but it is elieved that that Godin’s move to Premier League cannot be stalled if Man Utd meets the fixed-price clause of over £30m.
