Rooney Removed Fom Man Utd’s Facebook Cover To Fuel Talk Of Summer Exit

Premier League giants Manchester United have added spark to doubts over Wayne Rooney’s future after removing the club legend from their cover photo on Facebook.

Earlier, Man Utd skipper Rooney featured on the cover image that promoted the club’s new away jersey for 2017-18 when it was first revealed in May.

Being the club skipper, he was at the front and centre alongside fellow team-mates Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

Manchester United have now refreshed their social media accounts and Rooney is nowhere present in their graphics.

The England legend has been linked with a move away from Man Utd in the last two transfer windows.

Rooney has found life difficult at Man Utd after the arrival of Jose Mourinho. He has gone down the pecking order and has played the role of a fringe player last season.

Manchester United and England’s all-time leading goalscorer has lacked game time both in the club and international circuit.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has axed Rooney from the current squad as he rested his hopes on his younger guns.

He had been linked with a move to China during the January transfer window but sources claim that his agent failed to agree in principle over a transfer with two Chinese Super League clubs.

And now Everton have cooled down their interest in Wayne Rooney.

It is believed that Ronald Koeman is no longer keen on roping in the Man Utd legend and former Everton player Wayne Rooney.

This has now left Rooney eyeing a move to either the cash-rich Chinese Super League or MLS.

Rooney accentuated that if he had to play in the Premier League, he would either stay put at Man Utd or he would join the Toffees, where he began his footballing career.

But all hopes of a sensational return to Merseyside now look extremely difficult.

Earlier in the season, Koeman had revealed that he would like to bring back Rooney, 31, at Everton.

But it is believed that the Dutch boss has realised that he would require huge cash to sigh the Red Devils legend.

Koeman would also face an uphill task in finding a role for Rooney in his squad full of youngsters.

MLS side LA Galaxy have shown huge interest in luring him away but it is understood that Manchester United and Rooney are finding it difficult to reach an agreement to release him from his current Old Trafford contract.

Rooney has to take a decision now – with the 2018 World Cup knocking at the door next summer.

He told in May: “I have got some decisions to make now over the next few weeks so I will talk with my family and then I will decide. I think I have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that is what I will do.”
