As the two whales of English football collide, here’s a look at how the two managers have fared against each-other in the past.

Oct 24 – 2012: Borussia Dortmund 2 Real Madrid 1

The first Klopp-Mourinho meeting took place in 2012, in the Champions League group of ‘Death’ which had teams like Real, Dortmund, Ajax and Manchester City.

Robert Lewandowski gave Borussia Dortmund the lead but Real Madrid struck back with a trademark Cristiano Ronaldo goal.

But Marcelo Schmelzer found the net in the 64th minute to give the Signal Iduna Park side a 2-1 win.

Nov 6 – 2012: Real Madrid 2 Borussia Dortmund 2

Pepe equalized for the Los Blancos after Marco Reus put Dortmund in the lead.

However, Alvaro Arbeloa’s blunder own-goal in the dying minutes of the first-half gave Jurgen Klopp’s side a 2-1 lead.

A Mesut Ozil strike just a minute from the stoppage time put Real back level.

April 23 – 2013: Borussia Dortmund 4 Real Madrid 1

Real Madrid beat Manchester United and Turkish giants Galatasaray to face Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.

A Dortmund team playing at home is always one of the most deadliest to face and Mourinho’s Real just could not stop the Yellow army.

Robert Lewandowski was a man on a mission to destroy Real Madrid and prove that he was one of the best striker in Europe.

Lewandowski scored four goals thrashing Mourinho’s side out of the park.

The only saving grace for Real Madrid was an away goal by Cristiano Ronaldo.

April 30 – 2012: Real Madrid 2 Borussia Dortmund 0

Real Madrid were the better team throughout the game as the Los Blancos fought to overcome all odds.

Karim Benzema scored in the 7th minute to give Real a much needed boost.

Sergio Ramos then doubled the lead just five minutes later, but Real just couldn’t find the third goal.

A shaky Borussia Dortmund side came out on top on aggregate, reaching their first Champions League final in 16 years.

Oct 31 – 2015: Chelsea 1 Liverpool 3

One of Jose Mourinho’s last game in-charge of Chelsea, the Portuguese tactician had a dream start as Ramires put the blues ahead in the fourth minute, however, Phillipe Coutinho equalized for Liverpool just before half-time.

The London giants completely surrendered in the second-half as Coutinho scored his second goal of the night.
