Liverpool are keen on securing the services of Dutch defender Bruno Martins Indi from FC Porto this summer. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to launch a bid for the defender as he looks to bolster his defense before the summer transfer window closes.
Liverpool are in the hunt for a central-defender and a left-back after Alberto Moreno and Mamadou Sakho has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer. Martins Indi mainly plays as a centre-back but he is equally efficient in playing as a left-back. It is believed that Klopp is keen on roping in the versatile player, for using him in both the roles in the new season.
Martins Indi plays for Porto and was also in Netherland’s World Cup 2014 squad. He joined FC Porto in July 2014 from Feyenoord.
Liverpool have had major problems in their defense, way before former Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp took charge at the club. Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel has been replaced by Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan, but the Redsare desperate to fill the void in the left-back position.
Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, heavily criticised Moreno’s weak performance in the league opener against Arsenal. He said that Liverpool might find themselves a goal down, every time Moreno plays in the first team. Earlier, Moreno had drawn huge criticism from fans after his disappointing display in the Europa final against Sevilla in Basel.
