Can Pochettino’s Spurs Stop Conte’s Chelsea From Creating History In The Premier League?

Published on:

Blues boss Antonio Conte admitted that Chelsea will be up for their toughest test as they are set to lock horns with Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Conte’s Chelsea are looking forward to create history in Premier League as they are eyeing to break Arsenal’s record of consecutive wins in the league.

The blues are top of the Premier League table after maintaining a brilliant undefeated run with 14 consecutive wins this season and now Conte looks to break Wenger’s record with a win against Spurs.

The Italian manager has proved his mettle after arriving at Stamford Bridge and has guide the Chelsea side to the top of the table after a perfect start to the season.

Conte’s Chelsea are now desperate to hold on to the top spot and are all geared up to face Spurs on Wednesday.

Chelsea are now six points clear of second placed Liverpool, and with a game in hand.

But Conte now feels that they will face an uphill task on Wednesday as the Italian believes that Pochettino’s Spurs will pose a tough challenge to his in-form side.

Conte said: ‘It’s another challenge, another type of football to face [from Stoke] because Tottenham like to play from the back.”

“They like to put a lot of pressure on when you are in possession. We have to prepare very well because this game for sure will be very, very tough for us, but also for them.”

“For sure [this match] is the biggest test. I think for us now every game is the biggest test. [The Stoke match] is another good example for us because you have to beat, to fight every game to win.”

“Tottenham is a good team. Last season they could have won the title and this season they have a stronger team. For sure we will see a good game.”

Conte has now brought things under control with his 3-4-3 system at Chelsea. Chelsea have now won all their last 14 matches after a series of brilliant performances and have retained the top spot in the Premier League table after 19 games.

Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta have cleary adapted to the new 3-4-3 system and now are Conte’s favourites for the back-three spots.

The three-man attack under Conte has displayed incredible form this season – which was not the case last year under former boss Mourinho. Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Pedro, who were not at their best form last season has now found life exciting under the Italian. The attacking trio has stepped up their game and has provided the much needed impetus to challenge for the title this season.

New signing Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses, who went down the pecking order during Mourinho’s reign and later loaned out to – has given the Blues the much needed pace, precision and control down the wings. The icing on the cake has been the resurgence of Matic and last season’s Leicester City hero Kante. And all this has been achieved after the arrival of the prolific Italian manager Conte.
