Sergio Aguero missed 2 penalties but scored a hat-trick as Manchester City outplayed Steaua Bucharest 5-0 to put one foot in the group stage of UEFA Champions League.

Nolito and David Silva also found the net as Manchester City without the services of Joe Hart, humiliated the home side in the first leg of their playoff in Romania.

Sergio Aguero missed 2 penalties in the first 20 minutes of Manchester City’s Champions League qualifying stage match in Romania. However, that will hardly matter now.

Man City pushed the tempo right from the kick-off as they worked the ball all over the pitch and dominate possession in the midfield.

Raheem Sterling earned a penalty in the 6th minute after Muniru tripped him inside the box. Aguero failed to convert from the spot as Nita went down low to thump away the Argentine’s poor penalty. The rebound picked Nolito who fired a venomous strike against the top of the crossbar.

David Silva opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 13th minute and all thanks to poor defending from Steaua. Raheem Sterling won the ball and rushed forward into the penalty area before skipping past a tackle from the centre-back. The English forward whipped in the ball for David Silva, who launched a perfect strike into the bottom left corner.

Aguero had the chance to double the lead in the 20th minute, from his second penalty attempt in the match but the Argentine striker delivered too much power in his shot to send the ball flying over the top of the crossbar.

Aguero

Aguero finally broke the shackles and doubled Man City’s lead in the 41st minute as he got on the end of a Sterling cross before firing in a curler from 18 yards into the bottom right corner.

Manchetser City had some nervy moments to deal with as Steaua captain Nicolae Stanciu created a chance for Hamroun, followed by a well-timed strike from himself, but Willy Caballero who replaced Joe Hart in the game was able to deal with both the efforts.

Nolito put Man City on the driving seat by scoring the third in the 49th minute. De Bruyne whipped in a clinical pass through the Steaua defence and picked Nolito. The new club signing made no mistake as he round the keeper before tapping the ball into the back of an empty net.

After bagging a 3-0 lead, Man City slowed the tempo a bit but in the last quarter of the match, Sterling created problems for Nita and Silva’s attempt went over the bar.
