Gunners contract-rebel Alexis Sanchez has shocked his former club Barcelona by stating that he wants to make a switch to their arch-rivals Real Madrid, according to reports.
Sanchez has entered the final year of his contract with Arsenal and the Chilean forwards looks set to leave the North London club before the end of the season.
The former Barca man is desperate to play Champions League football and now a number of Europe’s elite clubs are eyeing to rope him in January.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are ready to another bid in the New Year after having failed to land Sanchez with £60million that the Gunners bosses rejected on transfer deadline day.
Sources revealed that Barcelona have also shown interest in re-signing the Chilean forward, who left the Camp Nou to join Premier League club Arsenal in 2014.
But the Catalan giants are set to face tough competition from their bitter rivals Real Madrid, who have reportedly shown huge interest in luring away Sanchez to the Bernabeu.
According to Spanish website Diario Gol, Sanchez has told the Real Madrid bosses that he is open make a switch and play alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.
However, the report also claims that Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is not willing to bring the 28-year-old forward to the Spanish capital.
Sanchez will not feature in the 2018 World Cup in Russia after Chile suffered heartbreak in their World Cup qualifier against Brazil.
