Bournemouth Offer Jermain Defoe A Tempting £18M To Land Him From Sunderland

English striker Jermain Defoe will be turning 35 in the next five months but is set to be offered a whooping £18million contract by Bournemouth.

The Sunderland striker will be available as a free agent and the Bournemouth hierarchy are offering him a tempting £115,000-a-week three-year deal to rope him in.

Defoe has displayed good form for the already relegated Sundeland which also earnd him an England call-up under Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

It is understood that Defoe would be interested in moving to the Vitalty but he scored 15 goals for Sunderland this season and is open to other offers as Everton and his old club West Ham have also shown interest.

Despite his age, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe wants Defoe to strengthen the Cherries attack as there is no transfer fee involved.

Bournemouth are willing to offer him an initial two-year £6m-a- season deal, with an option to further extend the deal by a year.

The Cherries are also desperate to add experience to their squad and have launched a £100,000-a-week offer Chelsea skipper and legend John Terry.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has also admitted that he wants to bring back Defoe to east London.

Bilic said: “Defoe is a very interesting player.”

“Even those big clubs are thinking about him as a back-up, or whatever. But this is his home!”

“Like every other team who wants to improve, we will spend on two or three players.”
