Zinedine Zidane says his squad could look the same after the January window

Real Madrid failed to bolster their squad in the summer and offloaded key players like Alvaro Morata, Pepe, James Rodriguez and Fabio Coentrao and it now seems that their decision has backfired.

Zidane is having a tough time with lack of options up front – with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema struggling to find form in the La Liga.

The Los Blancos won the La Liga and Champions League double last term but things have gone downhill since then with Zinedine Zidane’s side enduring a nightmare start to the season – leaving them 8 points behind arch rivals and current league leaders Barcelona in the La Liga.

But Zidane admitted that he might have to stick with the same players as his squad could remain exactly the same after the January transfer window closes.

“I am very happy with my staff, I do not want it to change, I want no one to leave,” he said.

“But in football, everything happens. There are more people apart from me when it comes to choosing things and we can talk.

“When the market arrives we will talk, but it may not change anything. Surely nobody will leave.”

Real Madrid have been linked with a host of players but it now seems that moves will only go through in the summer.

They have not yet dropped interest in long-time goalkeeper target David De Gea but reports claim that the Los Blancos bosses are now monitoring the availability of Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa.
